Hoares hires Giles Andrews as non-exec director

While Andrews has been involved with a number of fintech companies, it is his role as co-founder of peer-to-peer lending business turned digital bank Zopa that he is most well known for.

Andrews founded Zopa in 2004 as the firm’s chief financial officer before becoming CEO in 2007 and chair in 2015. He is now a member of the fintech unicorn’s board, having served in that role since 2019.

Since 2020, Andrews has also been an independent non-executive director to the board of Bank of Ireland Group and is chair of online car marketplace Carwow, a role he has held since 2019.

Andrews was also chair of MarketFinance between 2017 and 2022, as well as chair of the advisory board at fintech consumer lender Monedo from 2018 to 2020.

C Hoare & Co chair Lord Macpherson says Andrews’ experience as an entrepreneur and in fintech and banking will be “invaluable”.

Founded 350 years ago, the private bank provides high-net-worth individuals with private banking services that include loans, mortgages and savings accounts, as well as tax and estate planning services.
