Cross-border payments and foreign currency management firm Cornerstone FS has named James Hickman as its new CEO.

Hickman has more than 19 years’ worth of experience within the payments industry, particularly across sales, operations and managing partnerships and client relationships.

Most recently, Hickman was chief revenue officer (CRO) at Dublin-based fintech Fire Financial Services, which provides businesses with payment services and automated payment processes.

He also had a four-and-a-half-year stint at cashflow and expenses paytech Equals, where he served as group chief commercial officer (COO).

Hickman also spent more than a decade at Caxton as managing director, where he developed and launched an online dealing platform to serve both retail and corporate markets as well as a number of prepaid currency card programmes.

Cornerstone chair Elliott Mannis says Hickman brings “a wealth of industry experience and strategic and leadership skills to Cornerstone”.

Hickman says he will look to build on existing client relationships at the firm and utilise its proprietary technology and regulatory permissions to “capture growth opportunities in payment services and deliver value for our shareholders”.

Cornerstone is a cloud-based provider of international payment, currency risk management and electronic account services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Hickman will join the company on 12 September 2022 after serving his notice period at his current employer.
