SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) announced that it has opened registration for the 17th edition of steelChallenge- the steel industry’s biggest competition involving students and industry employees.
The competition will take place over two rounds. The Regional Championship is scheduled to take place online on 16 November 2022 from 12.00 UTC. The top student and industry participant from each of the five regions – Americas, Asia-East and Oceania, Asia-North, Asia-West and Europe & Africa- will be eligible to take part in the World Championship, which will be held in April 2023.

The eligible candidates can participate in the Regional Championship by accessing the competition from the steeluniversity website. Each participant must use a combination of the Electric Arc Furnace and the Secondary Steelmaking simulators to refine steel to the proper chemistry, temperature, and environmental performance.
The Regional Champions will be given a cash prize of €500, a regional championship certificate and an invitation to Award Ceremony. In addition, their profile will be featured on steeluniversity’s website. The World Champions will receive cash prize of €500, invitation to Award Ceremony, World Champion Certificate and steelChallenge-17 trophy.
steelChallenge is considered as the preeminent competition to engage students and industry professionals to showcase their ability to make steel with the best quality at the lowest cost.
